Malaysian Drivers

A day before back to IPTAR after a week break, i was driving on my journey from Pahang to Senai Airport, i met 5 car accidents along the PLUS highway. Wondering how come there were many accidents in 2 hours long journey in a road. Because of those accidents, i nearly missed my flight to Kuching. Talk about attitudes. Malaysian drivers’ attitude. we've seen a few road safety ads on TV by teaching us certain bad habits that we need to curb or change. Credit must be given to their effort regardless of the success rate. However, so far, I'm yet to see an ad on the bad habit of M'sian. I believe this whole bad driving habit can be attributed to bad education, lax law enforcement, and widespread corruption in our country. We have schools that teach us to memorize the whole texbooks but hardly enlight us with moral values; we have laws to cover almost everything but either the government aren't enforcing it or the people due to bad education do not feel obligated to follow it. I'm not saying I'm a highly educated or law-abiding person. I admit fully I drive very fast, and I will donate to the cops to get away from being issued summons. We can blame the surroundings. We can also blame ourselves. Sometimes I dun know who/what to blame. A number of friends have told me this is just the way it is and we are nobody to change anything. I'm still learning to accept that Its about knowledge.

KEM BINA INSAN GURU (B.I.G) 2011

KEM BINA INSAN GURU WAS HELD ON 7-10TH MARCH AT KEM ALAPONG LUNDU SARAWAK. WHAT I WANT TO SHARE HERE IS NOT THE DIARY AND THE SEQUENCE OF ACTIVITIES THERE BUT THE REFLECTIONS OF ACTIVITIES TO THE TRAINEE TEACHER. ON THE FIRST DAY, WHAT COMES TO MY MIND IS WE WILL BE BULLIED BY FACILITATOR THEN. IT WAS TOTALLY WRONG WHEN AFTER ACCOMPLISHED ALL 4 DAYS 3 NIGHTS, I GOT SO MANY THINGS ABSORBED IN MINE AND IT WAS A GOOD CAMP FOR ALL TRAINEE TEACHERS LIKE ME. WHY I SAID SO,WAS  BECAUSE THE REFLECTIONS ON EACH ACTIVITY WILL BE THE GUIDANCE TO US TO BE A GOOD AND STAND ALONE TEACHER ONE FINE DAY. THE MOST APPRECIATE WHEN THE JATIDIRI ACTIVITIES CONSIST OF JATIDIRI 1 AND JATIDIRI 2 WHICH ON EACH JATIDIRI, I CRIED ON MYSELF WHEN IT COMES TO THE HARDEST PART OF MY LIFE. YES IT WAS ONLY A STORY NARRATED BY OUR FACILITATOR MR MUHAIMI SUHAILI BUT THE MESSAGE REALLY BROUGHT US THE SITUATION WHERE A PUPIL WAS UNFAIRLY JUDGED BY HIS TEACHER AND BEING SCOLDED WITHOUT ASKING FIRST THE REASON ON EACHTIME THE PUPIL GOT WRONG. IT IS RELATED TO ME AS THE LESSON WANT ME TO BE GOOD TO THE PUPILS FOR ALMOST ALL THE TIME AND NEVER SCOLD THEM WHEN THEY DID WRONG BUT ALWAYS REMIND THEM FOR WHAT IS GOOD AND WHAT IS BAD REPEATEDLY SO THEN IT WILL PUT IN THEIR MIND. AS CONCLUSION FROM THIS CAMP, WE WILL NEVER GO THROUGH THIS KIND OF FEELING WITHOUT TAKING PART WITH ALL THESE 4 DAYS 3 NIGHTS ACTIVITIES HERE.

School Based Experience

Last Monday I went to SK Ibnu Khaldun in Kota Samarahan not far away from here attending for School Based Experience task in completion one of the essential subject in my course. On that morning, my friends and I arrived at the school at 7 a.m on a drizzly rainy day.

The school was big with an amazing designed building. I was impressed by the pupils discipline here while walking to the school administration office where they assembled at the canteen first before moving in a discipline manner to the morning parade in a quiet queued up.

After the assembly, they moved to their classes. The level 1 schooling form of standard 1 to standard 3 were in ground level classes while the standard 4 to 6 were on the second level. The third level consists of labs, library and multimedia room.

After a while, the GPK1 called us to her room. Briefed us about this school, rules and regulations, schedule and introduced us to some of the English teachers here and they were very nice and were welcoming us.

Our 1st observation started with standard three; 3 Umar where there was a teacher named Joy Reene was teaching at that time. Subject discussing was on past exam papers. Pupils were asked to make corrections. There were two way communications between teacher and pupils during the class. It was an implementation on effective teaching in classroom where all pupils are asked to sit in the front to pay attention to the discussion.

Based on my observations, their class was very nice where; the layout of equipment and furnishings in the classroom were very neat and pretty. The pupils's work, such as short notes, examples of essays, and mathematical tables were posted on classroom walls as references to them. In this school, cleanliness and finishing in the classroom is paramount. Therefore, the class I visited was very clean. In this class there are 30 pupils who consisted of 9 females and 21 males. While, the table layout consisted of five pupils in a group are to ensure teachers can facilitate them learning on teamwork and cooperating among the themselves.

After that, we were brought to other classes in all levels,  pupils in this school were disciplined. Despite the absence of teachers in the classroom, they were not making noise. Discipline can also be seen when they were buying food during recess at the school canteen whereby they were controlled by school prefect. After recess, they punctually went back to the classroom when the bell rang. I  describe that the level of disciplinary in this school was very impressive.

She brought us back to the teacher's room after completing the observations in all classes. Here we were preparing a report on our observations in the school and ask questions to the school teachers.
